CPR and Ambulance during Monday Night Football
Damar Hamlin collapsed on field after tackling Bengals Tee Higgins in 1st quarter of MNF.
Monday Night Football between two Playoff Contending Teams, was grinded to an immediate halt after Safety Damar Hamlin Collapsed on the Field after a hit with a Bengals player during the 1st Quarter of Monday’s game vs Bengals. Medical Staff rushed to Damar and began to quickly administer aid. CPR was administered to Hamlin on the field for multiple minutes after he collapsed on the field following a play in the first quarter. He received oxygen, according to the ESPN broadcast, as he was placed in the ambulance and taken off the field some 16 minutes after he collapsed and driven to University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
Hamlin made a Tackle on Wide Receiver Tee Higgins. Hamlin looked to take a shot to the Chest and Head. He proceeded to get up from the tackle and then immediately dropped to the ground, limp. with athletic trainers coming to help immediately. A stretcher was immediately brought to the field as athletic trainers protected his head.
The entire Bills sideline surrounded Hamlin as he received care. Multiple Bills players were visibly distressed and crying. Some even dropped to both knees in complete hurt. Many were seen comforting each other as he was cared to. Many players turned away from watching Hamlin in distress. The first attempt to move Hamlin resulted in him being brought back down onto the field, but he was then placed into an ambulance, which left the stadium at about 9:25 p.m. ET. Hamlin's family came down from the stands to be with him in the ambulance. Hamlin’s Mother was seen entering the Ambulance to accompany her son. Hamlin remains in Critical Condition at hospital.
After he was taken away, Bills players knelt down in a Prayer Circle as a team. Players then returned to the sidelines and the Defense to the Field to resume play. Both Head Coaches were then seen coming together on the Field to then pull their players to the locker room until further notice. The game was postponed for some time. Commissioner Roger Goodell was talking to officials from NFL Headquarters. The league then suspended play for the rest of the night. A new date and time has not yet been decided.
Players around the league began to pour in their thoughts and prayers for Damar Hamlin over Social Media. No word has come through regarding the status of Damar Hamlin. But we can only hope and pray for the best outcome.
